NetRiskScan

Terms of Use

Last updated: August 26, 2026. These terms govern everything NetRiskScan offers: this website, the free diagnostic tools, developer accounts, the NetRiskScan Developer API, and paid API subscriptions. By using any of them, you agree to use the service lawfully and not to disrupt, overload, probe or misuse our systems or third-party services.

No absolute verdict

The NetRiskScan Index, VPN or proxy flags, GeoIP results and other classifications are estimates based on available data. They must not be treated as the sole basis for legal, employment, credit, access-control or other high-impact decisions.

Acceptable use

You may test addresses and connections you are authorized to assess. Automated use must respect the published API terms and rate limits below. You may not bypass controls, scrape the service at harmful volume or use results to harass or unlawfully discriminate.

Developer API

The NetRiskScan Developer API is an automated IP and network risk information service. It returns machine-readable reputation, network-ownership and classification data for addresses you submit, subject to the plan entitlements described below. It is an information service: it does not make decisions for you, and the limits in "No absolute verdict" above apply to API responses exactly as they do to the website.

Free Plan

Every developer account starts on the Free Plan. The Free Plan requires no credit card and no payment method of any kind. It is not a free trial: it does not convert into a paid subscription, it does not upgrade automatically, and it will never charge you when its allowance is used up or its period ends — the API simply returns a quota response until the next period begins.

Free allowances are set per plan and may be adjusted, subject to reasonable notice for material reductions. Creating multiple accounts to obtain additional free allowance is a violation of these terms (see "Abuse" below).

Paid subscriptions

Paid plans are subscription services, not one-time purchases. Each plan is billed on the interval shown on its plan card at the time of purchase — monthly or yearly, according to that plan's configuration. The price and currency applicable to your purchase are displayed on the Pricing page and again in Stripe Checkout before you confirm. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; NetRiskScan does not receive or store your full card number.

Automatic renewal

Unless you cancel, subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period, and your payment method is charged for the next period. Renewals are made on the subscription terms in effect at the time of renewal. If prices change, the new price applies from your next renewal, not retroactively.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from Developer Dashboard → Billing → Manage Billing, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period by default: your paid entitlements continue until that date, after which the account returns to the Free Plan. Cancelling partway through a period does not produce a partial-period refund or credit.

Refunds

Paid subscription fees are generally non-refundable, because a Free Plan is available to evaluate the API before any payment is made. The full terms, including the limited situations we do review, are on the Refund Policy page.

API quota

Quota is measured in API units and is counted per account, not per API key. API units are a measure of service consumption; they are not a currency, not a stored-value balance, and have no cash value. Each plan's allowance is defined by that plan and resets monthly, whether the plan is billed monthly or annually; unused units do not roll over into the next month unless a plan explicitly says otherwise. Once an account reaches its allowance, the API may respond with a quota-exceeded or rate-limit error until the next period begins or the plan is upgraded.

Rate limits

Requests per minute, maximum concurrent requests, the number of API credentials an account may hold, and batch limits are part of a plan's entitlements — not incidental technical settings. They are enforced, they differ between plans, and the values for each plan are shown on the Pricing page.

API key security

You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for all activity performed with them. Never embed a key in client-side code, a public repository or a shared document. If a key is exposed or you suspect it has been, rotate or revoke it immediately from the developer console. NetRiskScan cannot recover a key after it is issued, and does not store it in a form that would allow us to.

Abuse

The following are prohibited and may result in immediate suspension: reselling or redistributing raw API access without written authorization; sharing an account or credentials so that several parties consume one entitlement; creating multiple accounts to circumvent free allowances or rate limits; scraping designed to bypass API limits; abusive or automated traffic that degrades the service; using results for unlawful surveillance or illegal discrimination; and any attack against NetRiskScan infrastructure or the third-party services we depend on.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account for abuse, fraud, chargeback abuse, security incidents, or violation of these terms. Where circumstances reasonably allow, we will contact the account email first. Suspension for cause does not entitle you to a refund of fees already paid.

Third-party data

NetRiskScan aggregates IP intelligence and public network data from third-party providers. Those providers use different databases, update schedules and classification thresholds. We do not warrant that results are 100% accurate, always available, correct in real time, or a definitive determination of whether an address is safe. See Diagnostic Disclaimer for how to read them.

Availability and changes

Features may change as providers, browsers and networks change. We may suspend access to protect users or infrastructure. The service is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. We may update these terms; material changes affecting paid subscriptions will be reflected here with an updated date.

Intellectual property

NetRiskScan branding, original guides, interfaces and software are protected by applicable law. Linking and normal quotations are welcome; copying substantial content or republishing it as your own is not.
